Dario Babović: the name behind the new BH Futures Foundation logo

After 8 years our now famous foundation logo got a facelift. We do hope you like it! Let’s meet the person behind the design. You can check out and download our logos at the bottom of this page.

Who is Dario Babovic?
Dario is from Tuzla, a go-to person for visual and graphic design, Master of Management who has dedicated his career helping new and established brands to set up and create their visual identity and thus position themselves on the market as successful and credible companies. In addition, for the last 8 years he has been imparting knowledge and expertise in the field of graphic design and visual communication as a trainer and mentor at online school of graphic design (http://www.designbetter.academy) for those who want to learn graphic design and become good at it.

Dario can you tell us how you went about redesigning our logo?
I have been following and supporting the work of BHFF for many years and I think that it is one of the few good things that we have in our country and that it is very good for all of us, especially young people who directly participate in the whole BHFF story. That being the case, I couldn't resist taking a look at the logo and materials you've been using for a while now. Although your original logo was recognizable and the work of your hands as a collective and volunteer, it had its shortcomings that I noticed, in terms of clear visibility and application. Working with your volunteers and management, I offered to redesign the logo, but in such a way that it still contains all the original elements, colors and shape that was set, to remain recognizable, but to be visually and technically better executed.

How long have you been involved in this type of work? What inspired you?

Although unconsciously, I have been drawn to drawing and graffiti since elementary school. I was always drawing something, writing names in different shapes, colors and it was absolutely fun. However, the very love and attraction to graphic design was born about 20+ years ago, in high school when one of the teachers hired me to edit a book, draw charts and diagrams and prepare it for printing. It was the first time I turned my interests in drawing and visualization into a complete and tangible work, and it's a special feeling when you realize that something you do as a hobby and love to do helps others achieve their goals.

You openly communicate the "how to design" element via YouTube and social media. Your videos are very engaging. What do you hope to achieve with them?
The general perception of "artistic" occupations such as graphic design is reduced to a little drawing and belittled in the context that there is no effort behind graphic design and visual communication and that children in kindergarten can do it with just three clicks. And this is the case both for clients who need graphic design and for people who want to work and become graphic designers.

Like any other design and designer, say a designer of mechanical parts or a furniture designer who creates a product or service that will help the end user achieve some result, solve some of their problems, the role of the graphic designer is the same - to create meaningful visual materials that help companies in achieving specific goals, whether it is acquiring new clients or employees or increasing sales. My goal is to spread awareness about the value and real role of graphic design through Youtube and Tiktok videos and well thought out training for designers and companies that need design.
