BioTech Forum: Bridging Medicine and Engineering Through Innovation
We are proud to highlight the BioTech Forum. Passion Project led by our junior scholars: Sanjin Halihodžić, Amina Jahić, Demir Halilbašić, Sergej Bajić, and Tarik Mesanović. This one-day workshop, supported by a budget of 300 BAM, aims to bridge the gap between medicine and STEM, specifically focusing on the transformative field of bioengineering.
The Challenge
Bioengineering remains an underrecognized field, particularly among high school and college students. Many are unaware of how it intersects with medicine and STEM, often viewing these disciplines as separate paths. This lack of awareness limits opportunities for innovation and discourages students from pursuing careers in a field that holds immense potential to address real-world healthcare challenges. Additionally, professionals in medicine and engineering often miss out on collaborative opportunities that could drive advancements in both fields.
The Solution
The BioTech Forum will bring together experts in bioengineering to share their knowledge and experiences through:
Expert-led lectures and panel discussions
Interactive Q&A sessions
Real-world case studies and practical examples
Networking opportunities for students, professionals, and industry leaders
This hands-on seminar will demonstrate how bioengineering merges problem-solving engineering principles with biological knowledge to create innovative healthcare solutions. By showcasing the synergy between medicine and STEM, the forum will inspire attendees to explore interdisciplinary collaboration and career opportunities in bioengineering.
The Impact
The BioTech Forum is more than just an event—it’s a catalyst for change. By fostering a collaborative environment, the project aims to:
Inspire students to pursue careers in bioengineering and related fields.
Raise awareness about the potential of bioengineering to solve pressing healthcare challenges.
Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration among professionals in medicine and engineering.
Spark curiosity and innovation within the local community.
Measuring Success
The success of the BioTech Forum will be evaluated through:
Pre- and post-event surveys to measure increased awareness and interest in bioengineering.
High engagement and positive feedback from attendees.
Emerging collaborations, internships, or mentorship opportunities resulting from the event.
Increased enrollment in bioengineering programs and related fields.
A Vision for the Future
This project is a testament to the passion and dedication of our junior scholars, who are committed to driving innovation and fostering interdisciplinary connections. By shining a light on bioengineering, they are not only addressing a critical gap in education but also paving the way for future advancements in healthcare and technology.
Let’s celebrate their vision and support the BioTech Forum as it inspires the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers. Together, we can bridge the gap between medicine and engineering, creating a brighter future for all.
